company in China A8 Music Holdings Limited ("A8 Music" or the "Group") (Stock
Code: 00800.HK) today announced its audited annual results for the year ended
31 December 2009.

Results Highlights:
— Strong sequential revenue growth of 43% in 2H09 from 1H09, 2H09 YoY up
11%
— 2009 full year revenue amounted to approximately RMB707 million,
representing a slight increase from RMB706 million in 2008
— Excluding one-off event held in 2008, revenue increased by
approximately 8%, which is in line with the industry growth
— Profit attributable to owners of the Company increased by 27% amounted
to approximately RMB102 million
— Strong balance sheet, with cash balances and highly liquid short term
assets of approximately RMB402 million and net assets of approximately
RMB483 million as of 31 December 2009
— The Board has proposed a final dividend of HKD0.05 per share

The Group recorded a strong sequential revenue growth of 43.2% in 2H09
from 1H09, YoY up by 10.5%. Full year turnover increased slightly to RMB707
million. Excluding the revenue contribution of RMB48.6 million from a one-off
event held with a mobile operator in 2008, the revenue of the Group of the
year 2009 represented an increase of approximately 8% compared with 2008. The
Group strived to tighten expenses in line with the stable growth in turnover
which helped contribute to a 2% growth in gross profit to RMB270 million.
Profit attributable to owners increased substantially by 27% over 2008 to
approximately RMB102 million. Basic earnings per share were RMB0.23 (2008:
RMB0.20). The Board has recommended payment of a final dividend of HKD0.05 per
share for the year ended 31 December 2009.

The Group enjoyed a strong financial position with no debt and a cash
balances and highly liquid short term assets of RMB402 million as at 31

It was Willie Nelson’s fault I missed my flight to Woodstock ’99 and nearly blew my first big traveling assignment as a reporter. As the world’s most famous pot-smoking, God-loving, bio-diesel-producing country singer finally makes his way back to the Twin Cities for two sold-out shows next weekend at Mystic Lake Casino — he also has a highly anticipated T-Bone Burnett-produced album due next month — I’m reminded of that day he nearly made me cry from duress. As opposed to the many times he has brought me to tears in good ways.
Willie, you see, doesn’t operate like other big shots in the music biz. Instead of requiring an interviewer to call a publicist to call a manager to try to get him on the phone at a specific time, he simply takes his requests by fax (probably now e-mail) on his fabled tour bus. If and when he feels like it, he’ll call up a reporter on the list.
I was on the to-call list quite a few times in the late ’90s while working for Willie’s hometown newspaper, the Austin American-Statesman. He called nearly every time, too. You just never knew when it’d be. Hence the Woodstock ’99 debacle.
I thought it was my taxi to the airport when I picked up the phone, but instead, I heard that so-familiar-it’s-comforting voice.
Telling Willie you don’t have time to take his call is a little like telling Penélope Cruz you don’t want to see her naked, at least in my book. It isn’t just that he’s one of the greatest living musicians and an American icon and all that. He’s the king of cool-headedness, the most laid-back, easygoing guy you’ll ever meet. You’d have to be a real ninny to tell him you’re busy.
By the time Willie said "thanks" to end the interview — that’s right, he thanked me — my taxi came and went, and my flight was pulling away when I finally got to the gate.

Ravinia ’10 lineup swings from strings to Sting

“Stick with what works” and “variety is the spice of life” seem to be the two unusually concurrent maxims for the Ravinia Festival ’s 2010 season running from June 3 to Sept. 7.
Of the 117 events set for this summer, 50 feature debuts by high-profile pop stars such as Sting, Colbie Caillat (June 13), the Swell Season (July 14), Nelly Furtado (Sept. 3) and Train (Sept. 4).

Sting makes Ravinia debut with orchestra

Though the Highland Park summer festival released its full lineup today, last fall, it announced its 21 Chicago Symphony Orchestra concerts for 2010, including “Annie Get Your Gun” (Aug. 13-15) with Patti LuPone and Brian Stokes Mitchell, a Sondheim-themed gala July 31, and two Mozart operas with international casts Aug. 5-8. CSO concerts, long the centerpiece of Ravinia programming, run from June 28 to Aug. 15.
In reviewing the themes and anniversaries marked this year, Ravinia president and CEO Welz Kauffman sought to link his artistic choices with the unusual lineups presented at New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge, a popular classical music/new music nightclub in Greenwich Village, and the outreach plans of incoming CSO music director Riccardo Muti.

I’m hesitant to tell you about Cop Out. The reason doing so is for years I’ve wanted to see writer/director Kevin Smith try and branch out and go outside of his comfort zone with his typical indy-pop work. And Cop Out is very much uncharted territory for Smith. It’s a movie with more action than anything he’s ever done. It’s also the first time Smith has directed from a script that wasn’t his own, being that even Smith admits that his strength lies as a writer. For years Smith avoided doing more action-type movies like say Green Hornet because he was not confident that he could handle the action sequences a movie of that nature would require and he would simply have Green Hornet and Kato standing next to their car, walk offstage, beat a bunch of guys up, walk back to their car and talk about doing a woman in the rear. And the reason I’m hesitant to talk about Cop Out, Smith’s new action comedy is because well . . . it’s pretty bad.

What I do appreciate about Cop Out is the intent of making a throwback of the classic cop action comedy movies of the 1980′s like Beverly Hills Cop. I appreciate Smith actually trying something different from his usual fare. I even appreciate throwing in a funky, 80′s synthesizer, keyboard score from composer Harold Faltermeyer (Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun), dusted off and removed from the shelves. It seems like a match made in pop-music heaven: Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper. The two flashy blondes aren’t collaborating musically, however; they’re appearing together in MAC’s new Viva Glam campaign and lending their names to new lipsticks that benefit the MAC AIDS fund.

The Viva Glam Cyndi and Viva Glam Gaga lipsticks will be available on March 18 and will retail for $14.00. This Wednesday both Gaga and Lauper will appear on “Good Morning America” and the “Today” show to promote the lipstick and the cause, according to MusicFascination.com.

The ladies also look appropriately glamorous in “From Our Lips” ads, which were shot by Ellen Von Unwerth and are set to appear in magazines later this month, Idolator.com reported. As Gaga and Lauper pose like adorable retro pinup girls, one ad reads, “You know you’ve got a sexy voice. Use it! Let’s talk about how to keep your love life safer, seductive and satisfying. Just between us girls!”

Gaga and Lauper join a list of famous singers who have worked on the Viva Glam campaign. Fergie, Christina Aguilera, Eve, Mary J. Blige and Lil’ Kim have all helped sell the lipstick line, which MAC started in 1994, donating every dollar of its sales cheap domstic flights from Port Hedland to Brisbane to help men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS.
